The Geminids are a meteor shower caused by the object 3200 Phaethon which is thought to be an asteroid.  This makes Geminids together with the Quadrantids, the only major meteor shower not originating from a comet.  Meteors from Geminids are typically slow moving and can be seen in December (usually peaking round December 14).
