A black hole is a region of space that has such as strong gravitational effect that nothing, not even particles and electromagnetic radiation such as light, can escape from it. Einstein’s theory of general relativity was the first to predict black holes could exist – that a sufficiently compact mass can deform spacetime to form a black hole. The edge of a black hole, the point where nothing can escape its pull, it called the event horizon.
